Valencia, to start

OK, I am now ready to seek some guidance on certain parts of my upcoming trip to Turkey and Spain. I will thank in advance anyone with the experiences to help in my planning. I spent a month in Spain in 2016, visiting Barcelona and some other areas in Catalunya, the Madrid area, and quite a bit of Andalusia. This time I will be in Spain from June 9 to July 5, flying in and out of Barcelona, and taking the RS Basque Tour from June 22 to 30. "In and out" of Barcelona is due to flying on mileage, which limits my flexibility, and it is now a done deal. Will start with 3 nights in Barcelona to visit a few places I missed during my first trip.

Then, Valencia, I am thinking of just 2 nights, arriving by train. I know some people really love Valencia, and others really don't. My plan is to get a taste, then move on. If anyone knows and can suggest a nice place to stay, not fancy but comfy and friendly, in the 100 euro/night range, that would be wonderful. I'm up for a hotel, B & B, or even a small apartment, but I prefer to have people around to check me in and out easily, and to give guidance and smiles. Private bath a must, central location, and a little extra space (not a tiny room) and a good breakfast, would both be nice too.

Then, in your opinion, what are the most interesting sites to visit in maybe a full day and a half. I'm into history, good local food, architecture, ceramics, mosaics, taking photos, not so much museums of many rooms of paintings hanging on walls. Looks like I will be in Valencia from Tuesday afternoon through Thursday morning, so in general, that should not bump into site closings.

Thanks so much if you can help!

Larry, you need more than 2 nights in Valencia! If avirose doesn't respond to this, PM him. He and I took the TI's city walking tour together and both of us thought it very good. There were a couple of museums I wanted to visit (incl. archaeology) but didn't have time for. Avi was there longer and stayed in another part of the city.

I stayed at the Astoria Palace and loved it. Great central location (10 minutes' walk from the train station too), very friendly and knowledgeable staff, nice views from the top floor. It was definitely luxury but affordable. Very spacious. I have photos. . . .
