Valencia to Mallorca or Eivissa

NB: adding Majorca and Ibiza spellings

We are a couple in our 60s heading to Spain in May 2027. We enjoy meandering, sitting at restaurant terraces, food tours, possibly a beach day or two.

Would Mallorca or Eivissa offer any locales that reflect the quiet side of island life? We would not be pursuing any wild or even tame nightlife or areas catering only to northern European travelers looking for the same beer they drink at home. (No offence to them.)

I presume the easiest way to get to either island from Valencia is ferry. Would flying involve too much hassle?

Mallorca is quite large and I would want a car if I was visiting there—is that an option for you? How many days do you have for your side trip?
I detest long ferry rides so it would be flight for me! Compare schedules and prices with an internet search and see what works best for you.

There are lots of nice quiet places in Mallorca- basically just stay away from the Magaluf area which is where much of the "nightlife" is. We visited a few years ago and enjoyed staying in the main city (Palma)- lots of nice things to see (good for meandering as you say) and not too crowded. We also liked the northwest corner around Alcudia/Pollenca for beaches. The bus system there is excellent and we found it very easy to get around.

I've not been to Ibiza. It has the reputation of a party island, but I once knew someone who went every year with their family and said there are lots of nice quiet parts of the island away from nightlife areas.

I would choose Mallorca over Ibiza. Whilst there are quieter and more family orientated parts of Ibiza they still have a package touristy vibe.

Mallorca offers a lot more in terms of sights and differing holiday styles with plenty of quiet locations that will fulfil your requirements.

As for for the travel aspect I would pick flying over the ferry.

BTW. The only reason to visit the hedonistic German enclave of S'Arenal is the German beer that's available. It beats any Spanish beer hands down 😁
