I was hoping if people could advise on some necessary apps to download before my trip.
I already have the omio, Rome2rio, booking apps, flight booking apps, tripit ( I love this app !!), tripadvisor, alsa.

I would suggest CityMapper, which should give you good transport advice in Barcelona and Madrid. When you arrive in the city, you open up the app, and it will recognize that you are there. Then you type in the address (or often just the name) of where you want to go, and it will propose various routes for you to get there and how long each will take according to current conditions — or how long a taxi or scooter would take and if there’s a stand nearby.
