US passport Arriving MAD 10:05am - Departing 11:30am DBV - Enough Time?

I am looking at booking this airline ticket and would like to know if it is enough time to get through passport control. We will not have checked bags. Flying One World airline partners. Sitting in Premium Economy seats upon arrival. Thanks, I need to make a decision ASAP! Thank you very much for your opinion.

Where is MAD? Where is DBV?
Where are you flying from (is this a short hop or intercontinental)?

"Flying One World airline partners" - I assume that means this is one through ticket. In which case it is a guaranteed connection and the airline thinks it is enough time. If the first flight is late and you miss the second flight, it is the airlines responsibility to put you on a later flight. So just relax, not your problem.

Depending on the answers to the first two points, you may or may not have to go through immigration (passport control) in "MAD".

If US-MAD-DBV is one ticket, the airline as already noted, has the burden to get you to DBV ( at no extra expense)

If US-MAD is one ticket and MAD-DBV is a separate ticket, even if on partner airlines, you need the Costco pack of prayer rugs. Not saying it cannot be done, but waaay outside my comfort zone

Note that MAD is huge. If you are arriving at 4S, you will need to take an underground tram to get to other terminals.

Carol, Croatia is not in the Schengen Area. This means you will not go through passport control in Madrid. You will stay "airside" (again assuming one through booking) and only go through passport control when you land in Croatia.

Carol, if you post again, please keep in mind that the Subject line would have been more understandable if it had included the word "for" or "to" before the DBV airport code. You will in fact be "departing MAD" - that's why it caused confusion.

I'll add that there's a tiny bit of risk if your "partner" tickets are non-revenue. That does not relieve an airline of legal duties, but it can reduce their hustle and enthusiasm on your behalf when things go bad. I'm inclined to say that MAD is not the tightest-run ship on the sea!

Thank you so much for your quick responses. I am happy to hear that since we are connecting in Madrid to Dubrovnik we will not go through passport control until we are in Croatia. That makes me feel much better about the connection time.

Remember that your flight out of Madrid will begin boarding 30-40 minutes prior to departure, so you’ll need to be at that gate by 11am. In reality, you only have 55 minutes to get from one gate to the next. If your flight departs late, or arrives in Madrid late, that will cut into that time, as well as time needed to taxi to the terminal, park, and disembark. Unless things have changed in Madrid, there are few announcements made in the terminal, so check the departure board. Boarding is announced at the gate, so don’t walk around expecting to hear an announcement saying boarding has begun. You need to be at the gate.
