Update on collecting Alhambra tickets

If you're going to be in Granada soon, the ticket system is changing. The ticket retrieval machines at Corral Del Carbon had a sign that they don't work, and a helpful worker there confirmed it.

Our palace ticket time was for 4pm. We took the handy C3 bus over to the Alhambra at 11am, retrieved our tickets, walked down to the Justice Gate to walk right in and explore Charles V, etc. We ate a lunch at the American Cafe, toured the palace and walked up through Generalife, finishing around 6pm.

Thanks Jean. Sounds like you got the most out of your day including lunch.
Still a pain we can't pick up at town. Did you try to get them from the Caixa bank machines at all?
I have a night visit booked then early day visit next day, so I guess I can go early before the night ticket and get both organized, but it would be helpful for others to know.

Hi Maria, I asked the worker if the Caixa machines would still work (I had the printed paperwork with me that showed the various options), and she said those wouldn't work, either.

When you arrive at the main entrance, there will be a line. Go to the front of the line and show your Reservation ID paper, and they will open the fence tab to let you through to retrieve your actual ticket.

Thanks for clarifying about the Caixa Machines, Jean. I will ensure I am there for the night show with plenty of lead time. I suspect you are also posting on TripAdvisor, and I noted there that you said there were also machines available....but I'll assess whether line or machine on the evening I arrive. I understand there is also the chance you will be asked for ID so passport or something official should be at hand.
Helps for others to know.

We went to Corral del Carbon this past Sunday. The machine was not working, but the employee there printed off tickets for us. It was quite quick.

Hi Maria, I haven't posted on Trip Advisor but probably others posting about this issue, also. I brought my credit card and passport and didn't need either to retrieve the tickets.

The ticket system has changed as of October 1, so this should all work fine in a few weeks! ; )

Hi Jean. Yes, someone else has been posting similar experiences then, on TA They did require their passport to change their voucher. (I guess that would be the notice of 'official identification MAY be requested. :-)) I posted here about the new system and going later this month, so interested in experiences.
Thanks.

Thanks for your experience Keith. I see flexibility is the order of the day.
Sniffer dogs - so do you think they will be looking for the lunch I hoped to pack on my visit day? ;-)

Jean,
Thanks for the update!

Hopefully once they complete the remodeling of the Alhambra bookstore, near Plaza Nueva, one can retrieve the Alhambra tickets there once again.

Enjoy the rest of your trip!
