University of Salamanca

We are doing an overnight in Salamanca as part of our Spain trip in Feb. Top point of interest is the famous university. My question is, can you roam about freely on univ. grounds and enter buildings? I especially want to see the library. Or do you need to book a tour? Thank you for any assistance.

The university buildings may be closed for academic or ceremonial reasons, so head there when you first get to Salamanca and check out the situation; you might do some Googling to see whether there's information out there. If you're unlucky with the university, I assure you that the city's historic district is both large and attractive. As I recall, there are some pretty courtyards to peek into.

Bill,
We are headed to Salamanca in July to pick up our kid from the University. I know, the only reason someone would ever go in July, right! I would be so grateful if you could please let us know how your trip goes and what you would recommend.

We are supposed to be allowed to attend a mini graduation ceremony when we pick up our kid, but I don't know if we need to schedule a tour of the university. I have read that it's gorgeous.

I would be grateful for any information and tips you are able to share.
