Unable to purchase Alcazar tickets online

I've repeatedly attempted to purchase tickets for our April visit to the Alcazar in Sevilla. My credit card company claims they are not receiving the transactions. When I called and spoke with a representative at the Alcazar, I was told that the problem was with my credit card and that tickets are still available for the date and time. I tried again with a different card and had the same problem. I don't speak Spanish. The Alcazar representative spoke reasonable English, however, this tricky problem was perhaps a challenge. Any suggestions will be appreciated!

Unfortunately they're all sold out! We purchased ours for April a month ago and there weren't many left at that time...maybe you could get a tour package that includes this site...

Sorry,

Jean

Hi, I had the same problem...see my post (and suggestions) of 2/13/18, 4:28 p.m.. One person suggested I try this site, and it worked!! I was able to get tickets from TicketBar. Here is the link: http://andalusia.ticketbar.eu/en/home/
Some Spanish websites don't take American credit cards.....it is frustrating..... Good Luck.... Also, ask your hotel, maybe they can get them for you..... Karen

Jean, are you perhaps writing about the Alhambra in Granada, rather than the Alcazar in Seville? The Alhambra regularly sells out very early, but I've never heard that it happens with the Alcazar. (Though of course anything is possible.)

We have seen numerous reports of European ticket-sale websites, ( trains as well as events) not taking US credit cards. Apparently there is an additional layer of security build into e system, and only certain cards, generally American Express and cards registered with Verified by Visa, will be accepted.

It is not just Spain.

Here's my update: RS Guide recommends Concepcion Delgado of www.sevillawalkingtours.com We had planned to take her Alcazar tour anyway. Entrance tickets for the Alcazar are purchased separately from tour tickets. I contacted Concepcion re: difficulty purchasing tickets. She explained she had heard of similar issues with Alcazar website refusing USA credit cards. Concepcion graciously purchased our tickets for us and emailed them to us so we could print them out. Subsequently, I reimbursed for the entrance tickets via her website. Concepcion was a wonderful communicator through the entire process and her instructions were easy to follow. Very much looking forward to the tour!

Thanks to all those who took the time to reply to my post. I've bookmarked the Ticketbar website and will make use of it for other attractions--thank you Karen!

I’ve been having the same issues here as well. Thanks for the heads up about Concepcion. I’m in the process of booking the walking tour and didn’t want to book the Alcázar tour until I had tickets.

Contact credit card customer service and then tell them your card need to be verified by Visa. They will transfer you to another department to verify your transaction. Some websites ask for verified code, and some websites don’t. Just do the transaction with visa-verify customer service. Work for me several times. Hope work for you too.

I've had the same issue for a week. I've tried calling, website, and emailing-all to no avail. I've been able to book hotels and purchase tickets for Picasso Museum, Alhambra, La Sagrada Familia, etc with no problem! I even contacted my hotel in Seville, and they couldn't make a purchase either!

Thanks for all the updates!

I called both of my Visa credit cards repeatedly, and they claimed to never have heard of verified visa-I don't know how that can be possible. I'm going to try to other websites. Thanks for the people that took the time to help.

I bought tix online about a week ago. It wouldn’t accept Visa but it worked with a different credit card- MasterCard. Give it a try!

Guess things have changed a lot since we took the Alcazar tour with Concepcion in October 2007 -- I remember just showing up at the meeting place, joining the tour and buying tickets at the door. (And this was the week of Spain Day, so Seville was crowded!) Alhambra tickets in Granada were ordered online months in advance.
P.S. Concepcion's tour of Seville shopping area was also excellent!

Hi. I realize you were able to ultimately get your tickets. I came across this post after having constant issues trying to get tickets. I was unable to purchase them on my BOA card but the transaction worked on my husband's MC. I even spoke to my bank and a declined transaction wasn't even showing up. I saw the language within the transaction about verified by visa and Mastercard secure so I searched on how to do it for visa but came up short except for finding and signing up for Visa checkout- still no luck until using my husband's card. Will need to make sure to take the MC in case we run into this problem while there.
