Uber in Madrid

I am going to Madrid in October, would like to know if Uber is in Madrid? Has anyone used it? Do you think it would be safe for a single female traveling alone? I want to get around the city, wondering if it would be better than taking a taxi when buses and metro is not handy. Thanks.

I don't know about Uber in Madrid, but taxis are everywhere and easy to hail, and I've never had a problem with them (they use the meter, and legitimate extra charges, such as for putting a bag in the trunk, are posted on a placard in the cab). They're relatively inexpensive, too.

Also, the metro works for almost everything a typical visitor would want to see, and the central area of interest to visitors isn't large, so you'll probably be able to walk many places and take the metro for the rest. You may only need a taxi if you have luggage (such as to and from your hotel), or if you're coming back from a club late at night (and even then, the streets are hardly empty, as Madrid is such a late night/early morning city).

Yes, Uber is in Madrid.

You may want to check out Cabify. It is like Uber, only a Spanish company.
Personally, I have not used Cabify, but my adult kids say it is just like Uber but a little cheaper.

Taxis are pentiful and not too expensive.
