Trouble booking train Sevilla to Cordoba and Granada to Madrid

Hello,
I have read a few posts about train issues, but I didn't see one quite like the problem I am having. I have been able to book three of my five train tickets, but I'm having trouble booking Sevilla to Cordoba and back and Granada to Madrid. The Cordoba day trip is April 18 and the Granada to Madrid trip is April 21. The other train tickets I could purchase are for earlier in the week and in the same area. Does anyone know why I can't book these two legs? The message I am getting on the Renfe site says they can't be booked at this time. I have been getting that message for a week now.
Thank you so much for any information you have.

I just looked at the Seville-Cordoba route on April 18 and a lot of options showed up for purchase. I used google Chrome as my browser. I'm not sure what the issue is. You might want to clear out your browser cache and cookies and try again. Good luck!

Thanks Stephen. I can choose the first leg of the trip, but when I try to choose the return to Seville leg, I get the "can't book at this time" message.

Cayce,

I can choose the first leg of the trip, but when I try to choose the return to Seville leg, I get the "can't book at this time" message.

I just experienced the same problem when trying to select the return ticket to Sevilla ( from Córdoba).
I would try again later today.

In terms of the Granada to Madrid journey, I see that there are 5 trains departing Granada on April 21.

What issues are you having when you try to book these tickets (Granada to Madrid)?

  • Make sure you choose the correct train station in Madrid: Madrid Puerta de Atocha, NOT Atocha Cercanías.

Please post back if you experience other issues.

Did you already book your Alhambra tickets?

Have a wonderful trip!

I was having similar trouble paying...so I finally went to trainline.eu and booked there. It cost a bit more, but it's done and I have assigned seats, which I did not get at the Renfe site. Loco2.com is another booking site.

Good luck and have a great time in Spain!! Report back!

Cayce,

I just tried the Renfe website again and was able to pretend booking round trip tickets; Sevilla >> Córdoba, and Córdoba>> Sevilla.

I'd suggest booking your tickets separately (on 2 separate transactions), instead of round trip, for this route.

I didn't have any trouble "booking" tickets from Sevilla to Córdoba.
Then on a separate transaction I "booked" Córdoba to Sevilla.

Hope this works!

Thank y'all so much. I combined all of your advice (and then some) to get all tickets booked. Here's what I did:

I did not translate the page to English. I left it in Spanish. (A tip from another forum.)

I booked the morning and evening trains to Cordoba separately.

I used a different credit card for the last one because I was running into road blocks with the card I used for all of the other train tickets.

Whew! That took a lot of effort. It takes a village to get train tickets booked sometimes. ;-)

And yes, I have already booked Alhambra tickets and many others. We don't want to miss out on a thing.

Thank you again for all of the great advice.

Cheers!

Just a word of advice. I believe there is some construction going on at the Granada train station and therefore you may have to take a bus from Granada to Antequera (or somewhere else) to transfer to a train to your final destination. I am trying to get from Granada to Seville on June 9th. It is too early to book, but in doing some searching, it appears that this bus to train transfer will be a part of the trip regardless.

Nicole,

You can also travel from Granada to Sevilla via ALSA bus, which also offers more time options.
That's the option we took on this route.

Thanks - the bus just might be easier for us since we are a family of five. The bus station appears to be a little further out of town - easy to get to? Probably a taxi ride?

Nicole,

Yes, the Granada bus station is located on the outskirts of the city, so it's best to take a taxi there.
I'd suggest asking your hotel to book your taxi since you'll need one large enough to fit your family of 5.
You'll want to arrive at least 20 minutes prior to your bus' departure time.

We took a taxi to/from the bus station to/from our hotel (near Plaza Nueva) and we paid €8-10 for 2 of us.
