Trip to Spain and Morocco - Flight Advice

We will be traveling to Morocco and Spain in May 2025 - 10 nights in Morocco followed by 10 nights in Spain (Sevilla/Granada/Malaga). We will depart from Chicago O'Hare airport. The Morocco part of the trip is a small group tour but the Spain portion of the trip is the piece I am planning. Originally, the plan was to spend the whole three weeks in Spain, however, an acquaintance is hosting a small group tour to Morocco at that time and my travel friend really wanted to join. Due to my job, I can't change the trip order either. I am struggling with deciding where to fly into and out of. I have been looking at flight combinations for weeks. It seems to come down to flying to/from Madrid round trip with a separate flight to Marrakech followed by a flight from Marrakech to somewhere in Spain OR to fly open jaw to Marrakech (trying to keep to one layover) and home from Malaga or Madrid. The day we leave Marrakech, we can fly to either Seville or Malaga.....or to Madrid (followed by train to Seville). We intend to spend a few nights each in Seville (4 nights), Granada (2 nights), Malaga (4 nights). We are not locked in on the order of these cities yet. I am leaning towards United airlines because we don't have to worry about size/weight of our carry-on bag like we would if we were flying Iberia, TAP, Lufthansa, etc. For those who have done a similar trip from the U.S. to Morocco and Spain, can you advise if there is a benefit to doing round trip flights from U.S./Spain over open jaw to Marrakech and home from Spain? I need to make a decision soon as the flights on Ryanair and Easyjet from Marrakech to anywhere in Spain are few and far between. Thank you so much.
