I am hoping to travel from 20 June-3 August and spend July in Granada at a school. What are the best public transport options from Sevilla to Granada and from Granada to Barcelona?
Thank you/!
Anne
From Seville to Granada we prefer using the train.
From Granada to Barcelona we prefer airplane due to the distance and time involved.
Curious if you have previously been in Southern Spain during the summer?
Check train schedules at www.bahn.com and for budget flights you can look at www.skyscanner.com. I agree that train is best between Sevilla and Granada (about three hours) and flying between Granada and Barcelona is a good option to consider since the train is 7+ hours. You can get there non-stop on a flight for usually under $100. If you wanted to buy train tickets in advance, you can get advance-purchase discounts through Spain's RENFE website, but they don't accept our credit cards so you would need a PayPal account. You can also purchase them with your credit card through Rail Europe on our website here: http://www.ricksteves.com/travel-tips/transportation/trains/buying-tickets.
Thank you very much for your help!
I have indeed been to southern Spain in the summer :) That's why they call Sevilla the 'sarten'/frying pan of Spain! However, I am going there specifically to take dance classes- a week or so in Sevilla [I hope] and all of July in Granada, then 4 days in Barcelona [where I haven't been before] then, back to Houston.
Actually, there are far more bus options and the time is the same for the Sevilla-Grenada trip. Nothing wrong with the train, but don't discount the bus. Flying is best to then get to Barcelona from Granada.
So you will be learning the dances of Spain while teaching them the Texas two step. Enjoy!
