Having problems in flights from Seville to Amsterdam in time to catch our flight home at 2pm. after 14 day RS trip. Does anyone know about trains and if so, are they easy to book from here? Thank you. We have booked an extra night in Seville but would prefer not to.
The train(s) from Seville to Amsterdam takes over 24 hours and involves at least 8 changes! A train journey I'd happily avoid.
Most flights from Seville to Amsterdam involve connections and take several hours, you'd be hard pressed to find one that gives you enough time to make your 2 pm flight. Either fly from Seville the day before or for more and cheaper options look at flying from Malaga the day before. I wouldn't want to fly to another European destination in order to connect to an early afternoon flight.
Pippa, Seville to Amsterdam is too far to do by train in one go. It is clear across the continent.
Yes, they are easy to book, but this is not a sensible option to catch a plane.
You can look up times on the DB website: https://www.bahn.com/en/view/index.shtml
I looked up times for a random day next April. It requires about 27 hours! For example:
Sevilla Santa Justa dep 07:45, Madrid-Puerta de Atocha arr 10:05
Madrid-Puerta de Atocha dep 13:25, Montpellier Saint-Roch arr 19:52
Montpellier Saint-Roch dep 20:04, Lyon Part Dieu arr 21:50
Lyon Part Dieu dep 05:50, Bruxelles Midi arr 09:43
Bruxelles Midi dep 09:52, Amsterdam Centraal arr 11:42
Note that is 8 hours (21:50 to 05:50) wait at Lyon station. The only way to do this would be with an overnight stop en route.
Transavia (the budget daughter of Air France/KLM) has direct flights from Sevilla to Amsterdam.
Are your round trip tickets booked now? If not, just book a open jaw/multi-city ticket. Come home via Seville/Madrid. Give us a better description of what you have or what to do so we can offer better advice. Look at a map. The train is out of the question.
Given that you need to be in Amsterdam around 11am, I would not attempt to fly to Amsterdam on that day. Too many things can go wrong and you don't want to miss your flight home. You need to come in the day before.
Thank you all. I sort of knew about the trains but was hoping! We will have to fly into Amsterdam the day before but most flights get in late. Anyone know of a hotel near airport worth going to?
Pippa, someone who knows about hotels near Schipol will probably come along within the next 24 to 48 hours (forum's slow due to Thanksgiving). If not, you might repost that question in the Netherlands forum. You could also check a hotel site like booking.com to get an idea of what is available at a price you'd be comfortable with. The reviews on booking.com can be very helpful; you don't actually have to use that website to make your reservation.
There are a lot of hotels near Schipol airport. There is even two inside the airport.

No idea when your trip is, but I used skyscanner.com and plugged in a random date for March and found a non stop on Transavia that leaves SVQ at 1235 and arrives AMS at 1535.
If you are committed to flying out of AMS, I would take that flight the day before. Gives you time to get to somewhere other than an airport hotel in AMS have a nice dinner and get to back airport next day without undue strain or rushing.
Have not checked the times, but is an option Seville-Madrid-Barcelona-Paris-Amsterdam.
