Travel Recommendations from San Sebastian to Bayonne

My wife and I plan to fly into San Sebastian and later go to Bayonne, France as the starting point for the RS Basque Country tour. I am looking for recommendations on how best to get to Bayonne. The RS book recommends a few bus lines but the online reviews have not been impressive regarding bus line reliability. If you have used the buses, what was your experience? Or, do you have other recommendations for how to do this transfer? Thanks

I have not used the buses, but if you do not like the look of them, the train is a viable alternative which I used as part of a longer journey. Commuter trains leave every 30 minutes from Amara station in Donostia (San Sebastián) to Hendaye (Hendaia in Basque), where you change to an hourly-or-so French train to Bayonne. On the latter leg, TGV require reservations but they are a minority, most trains are local trains (TER).
It is a bit less convenient than the direct Alsa buses, though.
