Any preferential order on seeing Sevilla, Granada, and Cordoba? Thoughts?
Flying in/out from US to Madrid.
What city in Spain will be your first port of entry?
I can't think that there would be a preferred order other than perhaps logistics. You might also check hotel availability. Always possible your first pick is available some days, but not others which might dictate the order.
I like ORDtraveler’s response. A couple years ago I reversed the order of my trip because of hotel availability. Where we wanted to stay at the beginning of the trip was fully booked. By reversing the order, we were able to stay where we wanted, but just at the end of the trip.
Otherwise, of those cities you plan to visit, it really doesn’t matter which is first or last.
I had the same dilemma! Below is the link to the very helpful responses I received. This is the order I finally decided on for my November trip:
Land Madrid, immediatly take train to Toledo (2 nights), Sevilla (4 nights), Granada (2 nights), Cordoba (3 nights), Madrid (4 nights).
Thanks Dawn - I appreciate the link. I'm flying into Madrid and had planned to take the train directly to Sevilla on arrival. It's such an easy trip from Sevilla to Cordoba, but I'm thinking Granada is the next logical stop. Then Cordoba and back to Madrid. I'm over thinking it.
What helped me make my decision is looking at the times that trains/buses LEFT Granada. For example there are only 3 trains daily from Granada to Madrid (6:56am, 3:21pm, 7:25pm) and two direct buses (10:30 and 3:00pm). I would check out trainline.com and alsa.com to get an idea of departures from Granada, and that may help shape your intinerary. Enjoy your trip!
We had planned a trip that got canceled due to the pandemic, which was going to be Granada-Sevilla-Madrid. When we rescheduled the trip afterwards, there was no Alhambra ticket availability at the start of our trip, so we did Sevilla-Granada-Madrid. In other words, like a few other posters said, the order isn't all that important. I would just suggest ending in Madrid so you don't have to travel to meet your flight home.
