My husband and I are taking the RS Spain tour September 29-October 12, 2025. The tour ends in Sevilla and we plan to spend at least another two days there to rest after the tour and see more of the city. We are looking for suggestions as to where to go from Sevilla to see a bit more of Spain. We could rent a car or we are fine traveling by train or bus. One idea was to go back to Madrid. We are retired so time is not an issue, but we do have to consider how to keep the trip within our annual travel budget. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Since I said we are retired I should also say we are active seniors with no mobilty issues. We have also rented cars and driven through France and Portugal.
For the best advice you need to tell us what sort of things you like to see and do when you travel.
I'd hope Andalucia would be cooling off a bit by mid-October; I recommend checking the most recent five years of temperature history here:

If you're good with what you find, you could spend additional time in Andalucia, seeing some of the interesting towns the tour skips: Cordoba (top choice), the Renaissance towns of Ubeda and Baeza, and coastal Malaga. Some folks like the sherry houses and horse shows in Jerez.
You could certainly add more time in Madrid, but the tour gives Barcelona very short shrift as well.
Between Madrid and Barcelona, right on the AVE rail line, is the less-touristy city of Zaragoza, which is very interesting.
There are nearly endless worthwhile places to go in Spain. I've focused on some of the most geographically convenient and accessible by public transportation. A car would allow you to explore Extremadura (Caceres, Trujillo, Merida) more easily than I did by train and bus. You could also head east from Madrid on the fast train to Valencia, possibly stopping for a night or two in Cuenca. Valencia has a rail connection to Barcelona, so you wouldn't have to retrace your route back to Madrid.
