We're planning a largely Andalusian vacation in September. We are trying to avoid renting a car, want to do it all by bus and train. We want to make a side day trip to Morocco while we are staying in Sevilla, but I can't find any information on buses between those two places. Any suggestions? My apologies, if this is a really rookie question, but this is my first effort in trying to arrange a european vacation on my own. Thanks.
Here's the schedule I round online for the Comes buses. However, it may be different on Sundays and holidays.
As you can see, the bus takes about 3 hours each way just to get to Tarifa, so Tangier is not really practical as a day-trip from Seville. It's also not a particularly good place to visit in Morocco. I'd recommend using that day to visit somewhere more accessible (in Spain). It's definitely worth making a separate trip to Morocco later so you can visit such places as Marrakech, Fes and Meknes.
We drove to Tarifa and then caught the Ferry across to Tangiers. We were able to spend a full day in Tangiers and then drove back late in the evening. I think if you are thinking of doing a trip to Morocco its probably best to hire a car as it will be a long day.
Look at the Alsa website(www.alsa.com) for buses and times.
When you say "side trip" do you mean several nights in Morocco or do you mean a day in Tangier? If the latter, I would reconsider. You'll use the better part of 2 days just getting to/from Tangier. If you want to spend several days, look for flights from Sevilla to Marrakech or Fez - the two best places to visit on a short trip.
