Travel from Ronda to Seville

My husband and I are in Andalusia in June. We will take the train from Granada to Ronda but we are not sure what is the best option to travel from Ronda to Seville. We are trying to avoid renting a car because it seemed to be more of a hassle than a benefit. Is the 2.5 hour bus ride a good option? What about the ride share? Is that reliable? There is a link to BlaBlaCar ride share service on the Rome2Rio app. The train is 3.5 hours which seems long. Thanks in advance for your advice!

ramiedare,
You can take the Los Amarillos bus from Ronda to Seville. You can book your tickets only about a week in advance. You can check bus schedules for the day of the week you plan to travel to get an idea of the journey time.

BTW, I hope you’ve booked your Alhambra tickets already.

Enjoy your time in beautiful Spain!

There's no need to fear Spanish buses - they are much nicer than buses in most of the US. You often get a reserved seat, and sometimes there is the kind of seatback system (nice) airplanes have, with movies, games, USB charging, and even an electrical outlet at the seat!

The bus is easy, comfortable and cheap. Most of the journey is through some lovely countryside. The tourist offices can help you with the schedules. I recall buying tickets same day, or day before with no problem.

I agree with the previous responses that I'd take the bus from Ronda to Sevilla. The coach (bus) journey is fine and comfortable at least for such a fairly short route. Also, it's direct whilst you may have to change if you go by train.

Incidentally, apologies if I am out of date, but are you sure Granada to Ronda is all by rail? Because of building work, the first part may be by bus until one of the Antequerra stations, then change to train. The Renfe site will confirm if this is still the case. If it is, you still catch the coach at the railway station (not the Granada bus station), and it drops you for the change to train. Easy, but worth knowing for sure perhaps.

...You often get a reserved seat,.... Our experience with many Spanish buses over the years is that you do get a reserved seat with the ticket but it is not honored. Everyone just seems to take a seat they like. About half time we have found our "reserved seat" occupied so we just move on. Never been a problem since the buses were not full and they were other vacant seats. And nobody ever asked a question why we were in a different seat.

Hi, I just returned from Spain and yes, the bus is the way to go. In Granada, you have to catch the bus at the train station. Ronda to Sevilla should be no problem. Enjoy!

Hi there!

We took the Los Amarillos bus from Sevilla to Ronda just last Saturday (5/26) and it was a phenomenal, super comfy ride. We purchased our tickets the day before at the bus station in Sevilla and paid 48 euros for two round trip tickets. There was no assigned seating on this particular ride (there was for our day trip to Cadiz the following Monday, but it is not enforced). Our trip to Ronda had one stop (the scenery was beautiful!) and the return trip was a direct one. The direct trip back took all of one hour and forty five minutes (whereas the ride there may have taken two hours at best)! Ronda is truly enchanting and the gorge is breathtaking to say the very least. We were based in Sevilla for a week and it was magical. In addition to Ronda, we took day trips to Cordoba (by train) and Cadiz (by bus) as well. I wish you and your husband a fantastic time!

Hi Ramiedare,
Were you able to find a bus from Ronda to Seville? I've checked Rome2Rio and GoEuro - both have no listings for a bus between those points. We're not going until September, but I checked for the coming weekend, and still nothing.

Not the most fun question, but as someone with a tiny bladder do the coach buses have the usual setup where there is a restroom in the back? We are headed there in September.

We took the bus from Seville to Ronda and it was very comfortable. I don't think there is a restroom on the bus, I don't recall seeing one and I usually take note -BUT that is not a reliable report. Hope someone else knows for sure.
