travel from Porto to San Sebastian

We have 24 hours to drive (and stay overnight if we wish) from Porto, Portugal to San Sebastian, Spain. What would be the prettiest, most interesting route and a recommended place to stop--along the coast --Oviedo perhaps, or down through Leon? We'll be spending a week in the San Sebastian area, but want to make the most of the drive there. Recommendations appreciated.

Lisa, as the previous poster mentioned the fast route can take you thru Leon & Burgos to San Sebastian in ~ 7 hours. A fast highway drive with perhaps a lunch stop in scenic Burgos (by all means tour the Cathedral). Via an alternate route you could see Santiago de Compestela and then have ~ 6 hours left to your destination. I'd consider spending at least a 1/2 day in SdC, visisting the Cathedral and other sites in the old city center.
The faster route goes thru the plains and the scenery is unremarkable; the northern, coastal route thru NW Spain (Galicia) is much more varied with mountains and greenery.

Buen viaje.
