Travel from Madrid to Segovia, then to Salamanca

Good day, Friendly Travelers!

At the end of June, we'll be returning to Spain for a few weeks. This time, we'll land in Madrid, and head directly to Segovia for a couple of nights. Then, we're off to Salamanca for a couple more nights before heading off to Barcelona.

My question - I know I need to book the train from Madrid to Barcelona in advance (I'll do it this week), but the short-distance trains from Madrid to Segovia and then from Segovia to Salamanca (via Madrid, maybe?), do I need to book those trains in advance?

Thanks for your collective wisdom.

You'll probably save some money by purchasing non-refundable/non-changeable tickets now. You can take a look at fares for today and tomorrow vs. fares for your actual travel dates to see how significant the savings will be. Use Renfe or trainline.eu to check fares. Since Spanish round-trip fares are often a bargain, you may save be buying RTs to Segovia and Salamanca.

Renfe (and most train ticketing sites) will normally show you all the fare options without a separate date search. Once you get some ticket prices, you can click on pull-down options to see various Promo and Flexible rates. The Salamanca-Segovia flexible (less restricted) rate is 32 euros in Tourist/ 2nd class.
