Travel from Granada to Sevilla

We arrive in Granada on Friday night and have purchased tickets to Alhambra with an entry time to the Palaces at 13:30 on Sunday. Since we are staying in Granada the night before, we plan to get there early to see everything prior to the palace and are hoping to take a train to Sevilla afterwards. The only train times are 15:35 or 19:18 or a direct 3 hr bus that leaves at 18:30. Which do you recommend we take? And we will have to go back to the hotel to pick up our suitcases or we could stay a 3rd night in Granada and leave in the morning. We were just trying to maximize our time in Sevilla by getting there Sunday night and having all day Mon, Tues, because we have to take a train to Madrid on Wednesday afternoon at the latest. Any advice?

There's no way I'd commit to a 3.35 train if I am to fully enjoy a "once in a lifetime" visit at 1.30. A bus at 6.30 or a train at 7.18 will get you to Sevilla just in time for dinner and sounds like a better plan. I'd go with the bus since it's direct.

I completely agree with balso. When I posted I missed that your Alhambra tickets were the same day that you plan to leave Granada. It's too bad that you booked the Alhambra on Sunday, vs. Saturday. Sometimes these things do not become apparent until you are well into your planning. Yes, absolutely, take the late bus. We had 10am tickets for the Alhambra palace, arrived at 9am and didn't leave until 5pm. You need a full day for the Alhambra. You are going to be short on time for Sevilla. Be extra sure to purchase the Alcazar tickets in advance.

You will have lots of time in Granada. I recommend time and lingering in the Sacramonte and Albacin. You will have a wonderful trip. This area of Spain is marvelous.

I'd go with the 19:18 train, which I believe takes just 2 hr. 20 min. I wouldn't want to try to make the earlier train.

Ditto on the 19:18 train recommendation. Do not rush your time at the Alhambra. You’ll still arrive in plenty of time to have dinner in Sevilla.
