How would you recommend I most efficiently travel from Granada to Ronda? I had read where the train doesn’t go directly to Ronda, and you first take a bus from Granada to another train station which then takes you to Ronda? Is this still the case? If it’s quicker and not terribly difficult, I’d consider driving from Granada since I’ll want a car anyway once I get to Ronda. Would it be quicker just to drive? Last.. are there car rental agencies in Ronda where I could pick up a rental car if I do take a train or bus there from Granada? Thank you
There are several major car hire companies in Ronda.
Driving from Granada to Ronda is about 2 hours.
The bus is about the same (direct, no changes).
The train involves a change, longer than 2 hours.
Where are you before Granada and after Ronda?
Rent the car then you can see the other white towns that have limited public transportation. If not interested those other towns just take the train. You have to change trains in Santa Ana. I did not see a listing for a bus company that goes directly that the above poster was referring to.
During our Sep 2023 visit, we found it most efficient to rent a car as we wanted to make some stops en route. We started in Seville and drove to Ronda, and then from there to Granada. (During my research for that trip I could not find a car rental agency in Ronda whose brand I recognized.) Details of the drives are in our trip report (Part 3): https://community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/trip-reports/trip-report-spain-aug-sep-seville-ronda-granada-cordoba-madrid
Thank you for being so responsive. My trip is not set as yet. Was looking to do it in April/May but think I’ll move it to late September/early October. I’m doing a u-shaped trip starting in Barcelona then Granada to white hill towns with Ronda as my base then moving up the “u” to Sevilla then Madrid….
