We have three days to travel from Barcelona to San Sebastian. Any recommendations on how to get from one place to the other? If we were to stop overnight somewhere where would you suggest?
Hello! From Barcelona you can take the 1:30 hr AVE (or AVLO) high speed train to Zaragoza (a underrated yet charming city about halfway), spend a night or two in Zaragoza see the Moorish Palace and Cathedral, then take the 4 hr regional train or bus up to San Sebastian.
What time of year when the weather in Zaragoza is not gloomy?

A symptom of the curse of the witches of Trasmoz lol!
But really I think September into December are fine. Christmas time in Zaragoza is actually quite nice, with all their Christmas markets.
Zaragoza can be miserably hot in the summer--certainly not gloomy then.
We did a reverse trip and went into France along the northern side of the Pyrenees; we had two overnights in mountain towns. The highway goes near the mountains which we went that way. A bonus was a few days in pretty waterfront Collolioure before driving south to Barcelona.
What hill towns did you stay in?
