Transportation Seville to Lisbon

I have found options for transport by air between these two cities, but price seems high for one way short distance. In the Rick Steves Spain guidebook it notes a good way to travel is by bus with 4 departures per day, including one at 7:30 am. However, when I access the Alsa website, it only gives options starting out after 15:00. Do any earlier buses run, and if so, how can I locate them? What about purchasing tickets in advance versus day of or day before? Thank you for your feedback!

I cannot see any morning services offered by either ALSA or Eurolines, only afternoon and overnight.

TAP, the Portuguese airline, seems to have 70-minute non-stop flights, starting at about US $82 one-way. Check out flytrap.com.

Although the Plaza de Armas bus station web site still shows schedules similar to Rick's Spain 2017 book (with the additional departures operated by Damas and EVA), I agree that those are no longer running and not shown by Damas and EVA. The newly updated Portugal book (June, 2017) only indicates the two Alsa/Eurolines departures in the opposite direction and the 2018 edition of the Spain book is already edited the same way.

Thanks for all the replies. So it sounds like the earliest option is about 3:15 pm for the bus. Yes, I have been keeping an eye on air travel with flytap.com (not flytrap) and the best price is currently about $220 one way for our anticipated travel date in early October. This price seems high to me for a 1 hour-1 way flight. This price has remained pretty constant, as I have been checking for at least the last month. Skyscanner is about the same with really just one airline as feasible. And of course car rental tacks on about $500 to drop in different country than you start in. Has anyone seen trends with Flytap on pricing? Do these routes usually run full? Thanks!
