Transportation from Barcelona to Sevilla area

My husband and I will be in Spain in September, 2018 for 16 days, not including our international travel.

Here is our current itinerary:
Barcelona - 5 days, 6 nights
Sevilla - Granada - Cordoba - Ronda - approx. 7 days
Madrid - 3 days, 4 nights

I have spent time reading the forum and it appears that this itinerary could be done on trains/buses. The thought of planning this doesn't thrill me.

I also thought about a train/car combination. And just driving the entire trip. But the drive from Barcelona to Granada, etc. is approximately 8 hours. Not exactly a good use of our vacation time.

I've read about flying from Barcelona to Sevilla or Granada. I checked Ryanair and the flight price from Barcelona to Sevilla was unbelievably inexpensive. Then we could rent a car in Sevilla for our time in the area and then take a train to Madrid. Thoughts?

My question is what is your opinion/experience on flying to Sevilla or Granada? What airline? The flight is less than 2 hours and I like that.

Any information provided is appreciated. Thanks in advance for your time & suggestions.

Have you booked your international flights? Knowing that would really help.

Vueling is the low cost subsidiary of Iberia, in turn part of the BA Group. I've flown them a couple of times and found them perfectly acceptable. As with all LCCs, make sure you check the baggage and check-in requirements and abide strictly to them.

If you have 16 full days, in addition to your arrival/departure days, then ...

Day
0. ARRIVE Barcelona (5N)
1. Barcelona
2. Barcelona
3. Barcelona
4. Barcelona
5. Fly to Granada (2N)
6. Visit the Alhambra
7. Pick up car & drive to Ronda (2N)
8. Day to pueblos blancos - Grazalema & Zahara de la Sierra
9. Drive via Jerez (or Arcos de la Frontera) to Seville (4N) & return car
10. Seville
11. Day to Cordoba (visit the Mezquita)
12. Seville
13. Train to Madrid (4N)
14. Madrid
15. Day to Toledo
16. Madrid (or day to Segovia)
17. DEPART Madrid

The itinerary is possible but you're trying to do too much in 7 days in Andalucia. It's too rushed. Here's the itinerary I'd go with:
Barcelona, fly to Granada 2-3N, either rent a car and drive through the hill towns with 1N in Ronda, return the car in Sevilla. Either day trip from Sevilla (3N minimum) to Cordoba or spend the day on your way from Sevilla to Madrid. If you want to spend 3 days in Madrid, you probably don't have time for Ronda. Just take the bus or train to Sevilla. Madrid has its attractions - the big ones are the 3 art museums and the palace. If you love European painting, you'll want at least 2 days just for the museums. If that's not your thing, think about spending those days in Andalucia and only 1 day in Madrid to see the highlights and be near the airport for your flight home.

Yes, we do have our tickets from the US to Spain, that is why I'm planning our visit.

I'll look at the itineraries suggested. Also looking at the forum I find that most people seem to fly into Granada rather than Sevilla. It is interesting to see the different approaches to itineraries. That is what makes the forum so helpful.

Thanks for your suggestions.
