I’m looking for help figuring out transportation between old town San Sèbastian and downtown Bordeaux. Looking for the most time efficient route (train, hired car etc)

It is real simple. Take the Euskontren from Donostia San Sebastian to the end of the line the town Hendaia (French border town)
You can buy the ticket when you get there or look at schedules online

Get off the Euskotren about 50 feet to your right you will see the Gare de Hendaye (that is the French spelling) SNCF (French Rail System) operates a TGV and slower trains to Bordeaux.
