Transportation advice: Pamplona to St. Jean de Luz via San Sebastian and return

Traveling in Spain this May. Will spend three nights in Pamplona then travel to St. Jean de Luz (Looks great in Rick's latest Spain book). Question: fastest and most reasonable way to travel (train or bus?). Can't seem to find schedules for either train or bus. We were thinking about taking a bus from Pamplona to San Sebastian then train or bus (??) to St. Jean de Luz. After three nights in St. Jean, we will return (back track I guess) to Pamplona for a train to Madrid. Any advice, assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Mike

Returning to Pamplona does not seem to make the trip any longer, but there are also direct train options from the border town of Irun (or San Sebastian) to Madrid Chamartin station - best timing at 8:40 a.m. or 16:20; interim departures either connect at Valladolid or are just slower trains.

Definitely bus. These aren't long rides and the bus will be cheap and comfortable. My one caveat for buses (or trains if they're available) is it can be difficult to make a stop then continue on. If you want to travel that way, it's best to drive a rental car. If you can stay nights, buses are ideal.
