We are taking a transatlantic cruise and visiting the port of Malaga. We have already seen the Alhambra, but not the city of Granada. What is the best way to get there for a day trip on our own? Bus, Train, Private transfer? Anyone done this?

Buses run hourly and take 1.5 - 2 hours each way; see www.alsa.es. That's a better option than train, which takes 3 - 4 hours for morning departures and offers fewer schedule choices. If your cruise offers an organized excursion, it might be worthwhile, to know that it will get you back to the ship in time.
