Transfer from Madrid International Airport to Puerta de Atochar going to Seville

My family will arrive at 2:45 PM at MAD. Planning to Seville from Puerta de Atochar for transfer after flight arrival taking 6:45 PM bullet ride train. Is 4 hours enough time or am running tight between transfer. Any advice is greatly appreciated. This our first time with this kind of travel experience. Thank you.

4 hours is probably safe, baring things going completely off the rail. But we can only buffer so much before we just never leave the house.

I fly into Madrid a lot—8 times in the last 14 months. The longest it’s ever taken me to get from plane to curb was about 1h30m in the massive T4—and that was particularly bad luck. A taxi to Atocha would be fastest—public transit options and speeds would depend on which terminal you fly into (determined by the airline flown.)

If you haven’t bought train tickets yet, you might consider upgrading to Preferente, Renfe’s First Class. Food and a little more room on the train are nice, but the lounge in the station is great if you get to Atocha with lots of time to spare.

There is an express bus but if you're more than two people then probably do take a taxi -
I agree that this is plenty of time and you could spend some of it in the Preferente lounge (when you're done enjoying the frogs) but even better would be to check out the neighborhood, like the booths in Retiro park or the rooftop cafe at the Thyssen museum.
