Transfer from Barcelona airport to hotel?

Staying at Corsega 482 in Barcelona. Hotel has advised that a taxi ride is ~Euro 50-60. Options: Metro (E4.9) or bus (E10), each requiring changes of train/bus & ~10 minute walk w/luggage.

Are there any other possibilities/suggestions that you have?

Aerobus will deliver you from the airport to Placa de Catalunya for 6 Euros (I think) per person. However, you still would have a 2 kilometer walk, so that "idea" is of little value. Barcelona taxis are a bargain nearly everywhere - except from the airport - that quoted cost is about right. You could hire a transfer driver but the savings over a taxi are minimal and you are obligated to ride with them rather than just hop into the next taxi. As a mater of convenience, the taxi option may be your best option.

Taxi ride on a weekday, 8am to 8pm, normal "traffic" shouldn't be more than 35-40€ to that particular address. There's a fairly fast street nearby, Avinguda Diagonal, which allows getting in and out of the Barcelona reasonably well -except on rush hour, of course.

How many people are in your group? A taxi ride from Gracia area to the airport should not cost 50-60 €, more likely around 35 €. I would say take a taxi if you have luggage and multiple people. Don't take the taxi directly from the hotel, looks like they may have extra "fees" in place, walk a bit away from the hotel first before hailing a taxi.

Blue439: The Aerobus sounds like the bus that goes to Placa Espanya where you transfer to line 3 which stops at Sants station and you transfer to Line 4 & stop at Sagrada Familia (aka? Placa de catalunya) Is that what you're suggesting? Then we'd get a taxi to the hotel for about E8 + luggage?

Depending on which terminal, the Aerobus 1 or 2 are direct to Placa de Catalunya.

Carlos, thanks for that heads-up. While I was asking about taxis from the airport, we will be making an early a.m. run to the airport 4 days after arrival.

@pfcoach2 the option you mention is madness... it'll take you forever to reach your destination

  • Aerobus can stop at Pl Espanya but also at Pl Catalunya, which is the end of the line.

  • Sagrada Familia is not Plaça Catalunya, they are far from each other.

Aerobus x4pax = 24€ + taxi from Pl.Cat. to destination = under 10€, total =34€.

Taxi x4pax straight from airport to destination = 35-40€ under circumstances stated in my earlier post.

Just a reflection.

Enric, thanks for setting that straight. There are just two of us; so we'll do Aerobus to Placa Catalunya & taxi over. I am guessing that there is only one Aerobus line.

Y muchas gracias to everyone for your help

There are two Aerobus lines; one goes from Plaça Catalunya to Plaça España to terminal 1, and the other goes from Plaça Catalunya to Plaça España to terminal 2.

So, coming in from the airport, just get the one that leaves from your arrival terminal. Going to the airport, figure out which terminal you are departing from; the buses and bus stops are very well labeled, so as long as you know to look, you won't get on the wrong bus.

AErobus ticket is €5.90. If you buy round-trip tickets, you save a little. At the airport, there's a "ticket person" at the bus who sells the tickets, pay cash or card. Placa Catalunya is very big. The Aerobus stop is on the northwest side according to the orientation of google maps. It's in front of the big El Corte Ingles store. Returning to the airport, you can buy tickets from the machines with a credit card or from the bus driver with cash.

You can also buy roundtrip Aerobus tickets online. When you get on the bus, just let the driver scan the barcode on your ticket and you will get a receipt. Keep this as it is your ticket for journey back to the airport. Saves time and worry about not having money for the journey.
