My husband, son and I will be in Barcelona at the end of December and wish to make a day trip to Girona on December 29th. The train schedule's first departure is at 12:45. We would like to leave @ 10:00. Does anyone have an explanation? Is it too early to schedule now or is it due to it being the holiday season?
Thanks.
It looks to me like Renfe has only released the long-distance trains that far ahead, and the medium-distance and regional trains will be released closer in.
I'd be confident that the schedule will be at least roughly similar to what is on offer for the same day of the week this month.
Check the bus. We took a bus from BCN to Girona. About 1 hour? ALSA bus.
I can't find a bus schedule showing such a quick trip from BCN to Girona. BCN is south of Barcelona and Girona is north. The distance is about 70 miles; the Sagales buses take over 2-1/2 hours. I'm not seeing any sign that ALSA serves that route now.
For someone starting from the city, I don't see how one of the fast trains from Barcelona Sants can be beaten. They take as little as 38 minutes.
