Train Tickets for end of October-November

Hello

Sorry if this question has been asked but today (Sep 2nd) I am trying to buy train tickets for end of October-November (Oct 31st onwards) for a few cities in Spain (Madrid-Toledo, Toledo-Segovia, Madrid-Barcelona).

Neither Ranfe or Iryo shows availability for those days. Movelia shows trains up to September 28th. My understanding was I can buy tickets up to 2 months in advance.

Is this normal? Or means to wait a few days until schedules for October 31st or after become available?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Best regards,
Rene Reyes

You can book Madrid to Barcelona on Iryo up until November 9th at least (that is as far as I checked).

However Iryo does not operate trains with service to Toledo or Segovia.

Just take the bus from Madrid to Toledo which you can book now if you want:

It has always been the norm that RENFE does not show availability months in advance.

You have to keep checking and a little more closer to the date.

RENFE has the habit of releasing tickets when they feel like, so yes, it is possible that you will not find tickets for your travel dates yet. Forget what you heard about booking horizons.

However:
- Madrid - Toledo is an AVANT, a fast commuter train. Just buy the ticket when you are here. Prices on those type of train are fixed.
- Toledo - Segovia will usually require a change of stations in Madrid. Eventually there might be through trains some time in the future. Most Madrid Segovia trains are also AVANT, so again no need to fret about them now.

Madrid - Barcelona is the interesting one, as there you have three companies competing. I would book that with Iryo, as they have the best trains at the moment. And you can already book with them.

I actually booked train tickets through the Rick Steves website for Spain. I was having trouble navigating the sites, timing etc and it kept dropping me, card would not go through etc. It was well worth the few extra dollars to book this way. Also I was able to tell when tickets were not available yet vs just not navigating correctly on the train sites. We leave Monday for our trip to Spain!
