Hi!
We are flying to Madrid April 2026. We will be training to Granada then Sevilla. We will also be doing some day trips via Train from Sevilla (Cordoba, possible Cadiz). When should we buy the train tickets? And when do the months on renfe etc. open?
RENFE is a bit haphazard when it comes to opening trains for booking. You will have to wait till at least early 2026. But look at Iryo as well, they might open sooner.
Local trains I would just buy locally. On Sevilla - Cordoba for example there is a frequent AVANT service, which is a high speed commuter train with fixed prices. This is exactly what you are expected to use for a day trip.
What you can do is look for example at tomorrow, and at a month from now. That will tell you what the walk up price is (and how common it is for trains to be sold out) and what discounts, if any, exist for advance booking.
We will be training to Granada then Sevilla.
Besides taking the train to Sevilla, you may want to consider taking the ALSA BUS which offers more time options than the train.
Remember to book your ALHAMBRA TICKETS once your itinerary is set.
Enjoy your trip!
Yeah we went to Cadiz from Seville New Year's Day. And Cordoba to Seville We bought tickets the day of like mentioned above and it was like a regional local everyday commuter train.
