Train Service to Granada

Just back from Andalucia; before leaving we chased around trying to figure out train service to Granada from Seville, Madrid, or Cordoba. Straight answer for those going: you can't get there from here. All train service to/from Granada from those cities includes a 50 minute bus ride between Granada and the station Anquetera Santa Anna (ASA). This is a no sweat deal as the station at ASA is in the middle of nowhere (no city, hotels, etc., etc.) English signage gets you from the train directly to the bus and staff makes sure you don't wander off; the bus takes you to the Granada train station. Travel from Granada starts at the train station where you get on the bus to ASA (signage and announcements in English). There is no train service directly to/from Granada as the tracks of the old system have been torn down and new tracks for the AVE are being laid. I never did get an answer on when this work would be complete but considering how easy the bus transfer works the "when" doesn't really matter. Hope this helps you in arranging your travels....

Thanks so much. I'm planning a trip in December and it looked liked train lines were going to be complete. So, I guess we will rent a car in Granada and make our way to Ronda and then Córdoba and drop the car in Seville. Open to advise on this.

I'm not surprised you got no answer on "when." The work was scheduled to be completed around now!

Mstory - post a separate question with your whole itinerary and you'll get good advice. For instance, why Ronda to Cordoba? Seville would make more sense. Excellent train service between Cordoba and Seville.

We also just returned from Andalucía & we chose to take the bus to/from Granada ( Córdoba to Granada & Granada to Sevilla) instead of transferring from train to bus. The bus ride was very comfortable & we enjoyed the scenery very much.

The bus service is ran by ALSA: https://www.alsa.es/en

You can purchase your tickets online or at the bus station a few days prior to travel.
