We’re going to Seville from Madrid on the 19th of February. AI says passengers will be bused between Cordoba and Villanueva de Cordoba. Has this happened to anyone? Can anyone describe how the busing was done?
Train and bus services to Andalucía has been severely affected by a couple back to back storms. There has been plenty of flooding and landslides.
One example: I had a train ticket for Malaga to Cordoba for the 27th, and the train company emailed me that it’s cancelled up through that date. I purchased a bus ticket, instead.
Yours is probably due to the horrible train crash last month north of Cordoba.
Yeah, the route the OP is taking is more likely due to repairs to the high speed line as a result of the accident than the floods.
Hard to say how they are doing it, but when I have had a bus alternate service in the past, it is fairly smooth, they have a desk set up to check tickets, you wander to the bus, toss your bag in the compartments below, find a seat, then repeat in reverse when you get to the next station. For that train, they likely will have a row of buses to choose from. Since a good portion of your train mates will be going to Seville, just follow the crowd.
I was at Cordoba train station yeterday checking on our train Cordoba to Madrid 23 Feb. We booked Socibus as a back up in case trains are still not operationg 23 Feb, due to the crash.
Renfe have been offering a bus / train combo to connect in Villanueva de Cordoba snce the train crash. It seems to work well but we couldn't be bothered changing from the bus to the train.
At this stage I dont know if trains have resumed across Andalucia due the weather which severely impcated the area. Certainly not to Malaga as mentioned by Jean.
On a lighter note the sun is finally out in Cordoba today, Plaza Tendillas is looking beautiful.
