Train service disruption

I hope to fly into Seville and take the AVE train to Valencia after a few days in late March. I haven't seen much about service south of Madrid where the major crash occurred. Iryo has this alert on their site currently: "Due to the accident that occurred on January 18, all services from Madrid–Atocha to the Southern Corridor have been cancelled, with no forecast for resumption. At iryo, we will proceed with the automatic cancellation and refund of all affected tickets." i do not see a notification of any kind on the Renfe site.

Wondering if anyone in Spain currently may have more information. Tx.

That is correct. There is still no definite timeline for reopening the line.

I have tickets for mid-March. We'll just have to wait and see.

According to the RENFE facebook page trains are running from Madrid to Villanueva de Cordoba and from Cordoba to Seville/Malaga.

Rail replacement buses are running between Villanueva de Cordoba and Cordoba, also Antequera to Ronda and Malaga to Algeciras.

Existing ticket holders have to cancel their tickets and book new tickets on the rail-bus-rail route- https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=26438707765715795&set=p.26438707765715795&type=3

I’m following this as well but haven’t made any plan adjustments yet. I have a ticket to go from Malaga to Cordoba on April 5 - which seems like it will be okay. I also need to go from Seville to Madrid on April 16 and I’m watching that one. I currently have a ticket on an Iryo train.

It seems from the RENFE Facebook account that normal service has been restored, indeed they have added extra Madrid to Malaga trains to the schedule this week to cater for Holy Week traffic to Malaga.

The Madrid-Malaga route still isn’t back to normal.

“Renfe has confirmed it is increasing capacity by 51,300 seats between Friday March 27 and Sunday April 5, using a combined train and bus service while repairs continue on the high-speed line near Álora. The route will operate by rail between Madrid and Antequera, with passengers then transferred by bus for the final stretch to Málaga.” - Murcia today, 25 March.
