I can begin my travel the night of July 28th 2017. I need to get from Madrid to Vienna. What is the best choice, train or fly? Advice on quickest and/or cheapest options needed. Am considering buying a 10 day Eurail pass for 4 countries.

If you want quick, train isn't the answer. Takes about 24 hours.

Reading between the lines of your post, I don't think it's just time and cost that are your major considerations. Obviously flying is the quickest and cheapest option. Are you wanting to see sights along the way using a Eurail Pass ?
