Train or Flight From Madrid to Granada?

We will be travelling from Madrid to Grenada and were wondering if it makes more sense to fly or take the train. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

if you will be in the city of Madrid and not at the airport take the train instead of commuting to the airport to catch a flight.

My flight from Granada to Madrid was canceled last month - rain. It was determined that the incoming plane (from Madrid) couldn't land safely. I do not know where the passengers on the incoming plane from Madrid were taken when they couldn't land in Granada - I think maybe Malaga.

I would, of course, subordinate my uninformed, personal opinion to the authorities. However, the weather was far from terrible - Granada not fogged in, off and on rain, temperature well above freezing. Madrid weather for departure was fine; it was just the Granada airport for landing that was impacted. I know planes would have been flying into O'Hare in the same conditions. I do not know if there are special considerations for a smaller airport like Granada. Not my decision to make in any case!

Given my experience, for a short haul like Madrid to Granada, I will not risk plane cancellations next time. I thought I would save a bit of inconvenience and time (not much) by flying - ha!

I would confirm train schedules before committing to either option. When I did this
in the spring, the rail schedules from Madrid to Granada were pretty lousy, for whatever
reason. Madrid to Malaga was full of nonstops.
