Train Hotel between Madrid and Lisbon

I am having trouble finding a way to purchase tickets for the sleeper train from Madrid to Lisbon. I've done research and know that it travels daily overnight but can't find a way to purchase tickets. We will be traveling there in December and only need the train one way. I've found tickets for bus/train travel but not the sleeper train. Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

Why not fly? There are numerous daily cheap direct flights. Take just over an hour.

Thank you for the advice. We thought it might be a cool experience to take the train hotel, but for the cost comparison and the length of time it takes to get there, flying really was the best option. Thank you for the help!

I did this train ride in the summer of 2016. If you're not in a hurry and enjoy trains, then I definitely recommend it. I bought my ticket through loco2.com. It's a little more expensive (but, really, only a few dollars and even less if you use a debit card) and is not only in English but just has clearer and more comprehensive booking instructions.

If you go on loco, you can select the train and date, and then when it gives you the option to select the ticket, click in the pink, dropdown arrow to select the kind of ticket (sleeper, berth, etc.) that you'd like. I just tried a dummy booking for a random date in mid-December, and I saw prices from $180/280 for a single/double sleeper to $61 for a spot in a 4-bed berth.

As a train lover, I encourage you to give it a try. Sleeper trains are shutting all over Europe, so it's best to show this one some love while it still exists!
