train from madrid to granada 8/18/17

Hello,
I'm trying to figure out how to get from Madrid to Granada using the train on 8/18/17. Is the direct fast train running? I would greatly appreciate any info you may have.
Thanks!

Right now there are no direct trains to Granada because they are still working on the train tracks from Antequerra to Granada...and have been for a few years. Though way past deadline and almost finished, there is no date in sight for direct train yet. What happens is you buy your train ticket from Madrid to Granada. When train arrives in Antequerra, they herd you over to a bus and bus you to the Granada train station. Time is about 4 hours.

You may check train schedules & book your tickets on Renfe.com.

There are 4 trains (departing from Madrid (Puerta de Atocha) to Granada on 8/18/17: @ 7:35, 9:35, 14:35 & 17:35 & the journey will take about 4 hours.

As Maria has explained, you will board an AVE train in Madrid, and once you arrive to Antequera, all passengers will be guided to the bus which will travel the rest of the journey to Granada.

Once you arrive to Granada, you can take a taxi to your hotel.

I do hope you've already purchased your
Alhambra tickets!

Wishing you a wonderful trip!

Are you talking about all trains to Granada? What about a train from Seville to Grenada?

Debbie,

Keep in mind that you also have an option to travel by *ALSA Bus * on your desired route.

My mom & I took an ALSA bus from Córdoba to Granada, and then again from Granada to Sevilla, mainly because I figured it would be easier to avoid the train to bus transfer in Antequera. The buses are comfortable, have A/C and a WC.

The journey from Sevilla to Granada takes around 3 hours.

The ALSA bus also offers more time selections than the train.

The only drawback is that the bus station is located on the outskirts of Granada, but we took a taxi and only paid €8 -€10 (October 2015) to/from our hotel located near Plaza Nueva.

Don't forget to book your Alhambra tickets 3 months in advance!

Enjoy your time in beautiful Spain!
