What is the status of train travel between Madrid and Granada? Some lines have been closed for construction. Is that complete and the train station in Granada open?

I don't think it is complete yet. Maybe sometime in 2016 but delays are likely.
You can still take the train. It's just that you will switch to a bus outside of Granada for the last hour or so of the trip. It all seems to be very seamless.

The station in Granada has never closed. You just do not travel from or alight by train from there. As above, you may travel by train for part of this journey and transfer to a bus which leaves you at the station.
