Can't find train connections from Granada to Cordoba. Any ideas other than renting a car? Plan to travel in Sept. thanks
RENFE is working on the rail line into Granada and there isn't any train service for a couple of years I think. You might be best to take the bus to Sevilla and then the train to Cordoba. The bus is about a 3 hour trip and the train from there is about 45 minutes. There may be a direct bus to Cordoba as well, but the timing may be about the same.
Busses are frequent (almost hourly) to Sevilla and pretty cheap. No need to reserve ahead, you can buy a ticket for the next bus departure at the station.
There are no direct connections to Cordoba but many connections involving one change - generally at Antequera-Santa Ana. The trip is between two and three hours depending on the train service.
PS I was not aware of the rail disruption.
If you are looking at a September date you are far too in advance looking for train times, whatever the event. Look at an imminent date to see what will very likely be the case.
The connection from Antequera-Santa Ana to Granada is being operated by bus this summer, provided by the railway, as I understand the news from Renfe, even though DB schedules are calling it a local train. Direct buses for your whole route are operated by www.alsa.es.
Thank you for your help.
When I've done this, I've simply taken the bus. About as fast as a train (2.5-3 hours) and equally easy. I would find this easier than transferring train to bus or other more involved routes. Get on the bus, it stops in a few places along the way, get off it in Cordoba, done. I don't think September times are out yet, but I can say that LAST September there were departures every few hours.
I used alsa and there are other bus companies.
