Train confusion. Seville - Cordoba

Both my trains for this coming Tuesday have been cancelled. 10 am Seville to cordoba and 3:24 cordoba to Seville. The reason given was infrastructure work. If that’s the case, I’m confused why there are still other trains on the schedule that day? Dont they all use the same tracks?

I’m trying to decide if I should book other times or will those eventually get canceled too?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

My sister will not be interested in a bus option.

No idea about the reason behind this cancellation. But there are two parallel railways between Sevilla and Cordoba: high-speed (Avant, AVE, Alvia trains) and conventional (MD/Regional trains).

Which one had you bought?
If there are issues on one railway, the other will be OK, and the conventional trains are slower but still fast enough for a day trip (about 1.5 hours).

Also, like you I'm still seeing many trains of both kinds, so I don't think there's much risk booking whatever is on offer.
I'd aim to leave Seville earlier than 10 AM, by the way! The 8:32 AVE or the 8:41 MD are good trains there, and the 17:00 Alvia or 16:32 MD seem like good options back.

What alternatives has the railway offered you? If you have a ticket from Seville to Cordoba an the train you booked does not run, but others are running then they should accommodate you on one of those other trains.

Looking myself I see that the 10AM is an AVANT. These are commuter trains, and the ticket is in principle flexible anyway, so you should be able to an earlier one. Or get it refunded (AVANT tickets are fixed price, unlike AVE tickets)

Thanks to you both for the info. I guess it’s just bad luck my original tickets were for Avant trains on the slower track. The journey times were short. 44 and 54 minutes.

The (translated from Spanish) email says due to recovery work in the infrastructure the train does not circulate. I can change or cancel free of charge. But no instructions on how to do so. I don’t want to waste time going to the train station to do so. I’ll just buy new tickets. Not a big deal.

I agree an earlier train would be better but I’m accommodating my travel companions who need a little more time in the morning.

I was able to request a refund for the cancelled trains on the app.

Honestly, try to push them. 8:30 or 9:00 isn't early, and it'll make for a much more enjoyable experience! Córdoba has a lot to offer, being there from 11 to 3 isn't worth it.
