Train Barcelona to Madrid

Confused in Canada! I’m trying to book a train for hubby and myself beginning of May on Renfe train site. I’m confused about how much baggage I can take. One train says dimensions are for carry on only and when I just google train baggage allowance, it says up to 3 bags, 25 kg and the dimensions are for our large suitcases which we will be taking.
Which do I believe?
Thank you for any help.

From the Renfe web site:
You can carry up to 3 pieces of hand luggage onto the train, provided that the sum of the three does not exceed 25 kg or 290 cm.
The maximum dimensions allowed are 85x55x35 cm. (height-width-depth).

Only three pieces of hand luggage! Back in the 80s and 90s, when we lived in Germany, we took trains with more luggage than that.
I remember carrying suitcases that you check on air flights.

There is a difference between Iryo (70x55x35 cm) to Renfe (85x55x35 cm).

We took the Iryo train from Barcelona to Madrid at the end of December and I don't recall them really checking (or weighing) suitcases. You do have to go through airport-like security but after that your bags are your own. You have to load them on the train yourself so consider that when determining how heavy your bag is and if you want to bring more than one large bag. Large suitcases are stored on a communal rack or the floor near the car exits whereas carryon size there's an overhead rack above the seats.
