Greetings,
I recently received a camera speeding ticket from Cordoba area. I have attempted to pay the fine which is reduced 50% if paid promptly on line. Each attempt for on line payment has yielded an error processing the credit card payment. I have repeated the attempt daily for 2 weeks. I have called the DGT (traffic dept) repeatedly who states the web site needs to be fixed. Should I continue the online payment process or not pay the ticket?
Thanks
Does your card have the equivalent of verified by Visa? That third tier authorization is needed for Spain. That bring said, some systems just don't like US cards. Can you pay by PayPal?
Thanks. No Pay Pal, only credit card. They need to fix their website.
Have you told your credit card to be expecting a charge from Spain? They may be denying it as suspected fraud.
Sorry, but the doesn't always revolve around US of A. It works just fine for them in Spain and most likely most of Europe for starters. Many Americans have trouble with Spain based websites because your cards aren't automatically set up for the third tier authentication. You can phone the card company to ask for this.
Yes, call your credit card. They can tell you if they blocked the charge (in which case, they can remove the block), or if they never got the charge (in which case they can't help).
Try what JenC said and let your CC company know to expect a charge from Spain. When I used that site a couple years ago to pay my ticket received outside of Melide, I had no problem. Just ensure you entered the citation number and other information entered correctly. Hopefully, calling you CC company solves the issue.
Pay the tickets because no one knows with any certainty what will happen if you don't. In Italy they are turning unpaid traffic ticket over a a collection agency. It may be worthwhile to open a Pay Pal account.
Do they offer an option to pay by wire transfer? Forum members have reported that TransferWise is low cost.
I ran into problems trying to buy train tickets the year we went to Spain, also. PayPal is easy to set up, and I had no issues once I was using it to pay for on-line train tickets.

Their website has worked fine for me when paying for two speeding fines but then I'm using a European credit card so I suspect the issue lies with your card rather than the website.
