Tours in Granada, Seville and Madrid

Hi Fellow Travelers"

Any recommendations on tours to take in the above 3 cities? We like food tours 1st day we are in a new city to get acquainted with area. However we are open for suggestions. Not sure if Alhambra should be done with a tour or on or own? Same with Seville Cathedral, etc. We will be in Madrid for 5 nights (1 of those days we will train it to Toledo probably). As far as Granada and Seville 4 nights each.

Thanks

Chris

For food tours, look at Devour Tours. They do several options in Madrid and in Seville. They are well respected and highly rated.

You can also go on YouTube and find the channel "Spain Revealed" it is produced by James Blick, who was a co-founder of Devour Tours. He has a slew of videos on tapas places and restaurants in Madrid, and has a few on Seville and Granada. I may not go to all the places he recommends, but the places I have, have been great picks, some were my favorites before I saw his videos.

If there is something specific food wise you are looking for, I might have a few recommendations.

Despite having an extensive education in European history, i like having a guided tour for some sites. The Alhambra is one. It is huge, complex, and its history spans several centuries. Trying to read a guide book while viewing an attraction just doesn’t work for me. Your hotel can probably recommend a tour, if you don’t get a recommendation from someone on thissite.

I visited the Alhambra on my own two years ago, and I found no difficulties in understanding the magnificence and history of this remarkable place. The available audio guides were sufficient for my purposes. I'm returning with my wife later this summer.

The remainder of Granada did not appeal to me. It's quite touristy and loud. But the Alhambra made the trip there worthwhile.

Our trip was in 2019 but believe these tours/guides are still available. We also enjoy food and walking tours to get some background in the area when we arrive.
Granada: Moorish Albaicin Tour with Granada Tapas Tours, recommended in RS guidebook. We took the Alhambra tour with Margarita Ortega Ortiz de Landazuri of Alhambra Tours, recommended by RS. Whenever she saw a bottle neck for a particular section, she knew how to go around it and come back to that place when the groups had moved on. She saved us a lot of time from just standing in multiple lines.
Seville: Devour Tours-the Triana neighborhood tour. We went back to one of the restaurants for our final night we enjoyed it that much. One of the co-founders, James Blick, has a good Youtube channel called Spain Revealed.
Sevilla Walking Tours (RS recommended), for their city walking tour, and Alcazar.

See San Juan de Dios in Granada. It is unbelievable.

The Alhambra sells out way in advance for much of the year. That's a ticket to nail down as soon as your dates are solid.
