Tossa De Mar to Girona

Hola! I'm planning to be in Barcelona and Girona in mid-October, and I would love to spend a day and night in Tossa De Mar between those two cities. It looks beautiful. The travel from Barcelona to Tossa De Mar seems easy enough, with regular bus service apparently year-round. I'm concerned about the Tossa to Girona leg.

It looks like there is not direct bus service from Tossa De Mar to Girona in October. I did see suggestions to take a taxi. That would be great. My only question is are taxi drivers typically willing to go from Tossa to Girona? Would that be an unusually long fare or undesirable trip for them?

If it is realistic that I'd easily be able to get a taxi from Tossa De Mar to Girona I'm all in. Appreciate any insight or suggestions!

Thank you

There is daily bus service from Tossa de Mar to Girona throughout the year. Buses leave Tossa de Mar’s bus station roughly every hour, first stopping in Lloret de Mar before continuing to Girona. The journey takes about 75-90 minutes since it is not direct.
When you arrive by express bus in Tossa de Mar from Barcelona’s Nord bus station, you can ask at Tossa de Mar’s bus station for a printed schedule of the bus timetables. The well-staffed Tourism Information Office next door is a great source of information for about anything any visitor would want to know about the region. They have detailed maps and other info on the Costa Brava region and Girona that are free.
Of course, there are taxis at the bus station and all around Tossa that will also take you to Girona in about 45 minutes for substantially more than the cost of a bus ride.
We wanted to visit Girona and Besalu on a day trip so we rented a car for one day from Ganxo Rent-a-Car. For about €80, Ganxo delivered the car to our hotel, the Hotel Capri, and then picked the car up the next day. It was extremely convenient and saved us sooo much time.
Be sure to visit not only Tossa’s main beach, but also the beach on the other side of the castle. There are stunning views of the turquoise water on the beach below. And there’s a tree-shaded hiking path that runs for several miles toward Lloret de Mar with dozens of beach coves below the pathway.

Sure thing!

Check out the castle-view/beachfront balcony rooms at the family-owned Hotel Capri. They’ve owned the building for decades which is one reason the rates are so reasonable (€90 for oceanfront balcony rooms in October). Spent hours on the balcony with the views here.
To see a Modernista Mansion-turned hotel, just walk up the beach to the Hotel Diana. It was built in 1906 as “Casa Sans” for a Barcelona cork-magnate and the lobby and public areas of the hotel are amazing.
