Torrejon de Ardoz and the Madrid Rio Fireworks before Christmas

If anyone is in Madrid right now, I highly recommend the Magicas Navidades Christmas market and light show in Torrejon de Ardoz. Take the Cercanias towards Alcala de Henares and get off at Torrejon de Ardoz the Christmas spectacular is right there. First you will be directed through the fair grounds where there are crafts booths, amusements for kids, Santa Claus, food booths, a German Beer Hall, and a light show.....then, they direct you into the town itself where every street has another Christmas light display, In the Plaza Mayor there is a huge Christmas tree, lighted moving figures telling the story of Peter Pan, a Merry Go Round, a nativity, All the principal buildings are decorated with lights. Every half hour they have a laser sound and light show projected on the facade of the church in the main square. As you head back through town to the Cercanias station you will pass more food booths and crafts, an iceskating rink, an icesculpture Christmas tree and a huge blow-up Santa a lit up in the middle of the street. There will be thousands of people there, but it is well organized, lots of security, and a Christmas experience not to be missed. You could also continue on the cercanias to Alcala de Henares where they have their own Christmas spectacular. This Friday Madrid will celebrate the winter solstice with a sound and light show and Fireworks and parade at Puente de Toledo Madrid Rio starting at 7:15 pm I missed it the last time I was here but daughter went last year and said it was fabulous. Feliz Navidad everyone!!!
