Toledo to Lisbon, Lisbon to Marbella Spain

I will be in Madrid in the last week of October and have a week to roam around before I'd have to be in Portugal (an hour South of Lisbon). So...I plan on spending half of the time in Madrid and Toledo and the other half (perhaps 4 days in Madrid, Toledo) of the time in Lisbon. I am not sure if I'd have to go back to Madrid in order to get to Lisbon. At this point, I have not decided which form of transportation I will use...night bus (if there's such thing), night train or plane. I am not so sure now if plane is the best thing after reading about the luggage fee. I am only taking the carry on size but I will have a small knife and of course, cork screw in the luggage....carrying it with me is out of the question.

Then, I'll be traveling from Lisbon to Marbella, Spain. Shorter amount of travel time is important for this stretch. Any advice will be appreciated.

Yes you will have to go back to Madrid from Toledo in order to get to Lisbon. There is a bus (a long ride) and an overnight train. Or you can fly which is quick and pretty cheap. You seems to have plenty of time though so maybe the train is a good option.

I will also ask the question of why you are traveling with a knife? And a corkscrew is not really necessary (many bottles are now screw caps and hotels will have corkscrews).

Thank you very much for your reply. And for the knife, it is for cutting and slicing fruits or whatever I find in a mercado. Corkscrew for wine...it is an old habit but I might have to let that go!
