Toledo sunset photography

Can anyone tell me if you get good sunrise or sunset photos from the Parador above the city of Toledo?

The Photopills app which you can install on your phone would help answer your question best. It’s not expensive. Sunrise and sunset times and views from different locations will vary each day.

The parador itself is probably less than ideal. It’s south of the old city. Since the sun will be setting to the SW it might not be possible to get a good view of the setting sun over the old city and the river. Sunrise might be better but also less than ideal, the sun will rise to the SE. You can check sunrise/sunsetbtimes and direction here.

I googled Toledo sunsets and looked at images. You could use that as a guide. Then look at google earth for more info. I think you would need a car to get into position as you want to get a. Road view of the city for a total effect.

We stayed at the Parador for a couple nights in October. If you want photos of the city itself at those times of the day, one couldn’t ask for a better view. Here is one photo I took of the surrounding hills.

We visited Toledo in November, 2022. We took train from Madrid and then a taxi with a couple we met on the train from the station to the Mirador. We asked the driver to wait ten minutes while we took photos of the old town and selfies.

Because the Mirador is south of Toledo, the sun was behind us (especially at that time of the year). Lighting was perfect because we were not shooting into the sun (no flare or wash out). Sunrise and sunset would be Southeast and Southwest from that position. You would not be able to get a photo of Toledo in the foreground with a sunrise or sunset in the background unless you find a different location. However, I imagine the dawn or dusk golden hours would give you very warm glowing shots of the old town. Good luck.

While you won’t see the actual disc of the sun from the Parador — it still is spectacular at sunset with the old city illuminated by spotlights and backlit by the sunlit sky.
