Hello! We are planning to rent a villa for a week with some friends in France or Spain next July. We also have a (very active) toddler who will be 2. Looking for something in or on the outskirts of a village/town, walkable to the water (pref the ocean, but could be a river/lake), and drivable to to historic sites for day trips.
So far we are looking at Costa Brava, Basque Country, the Dordogne, and Provence near Arles. I am concerned that Costa Brava and Basque Country may be a little hard to navigate with a toddler, and that Arles may be too hot. Also Languedoc seems to have great properties, but a lot of them are inland and could be ~very hot.
Open to opinions and suggestions! The only region among those we have visited before is Provence.
